COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Chem 5424 is the fall semester advanced inorganic chemistry class at the first year graduate level. The lecture portion of the course will cover selected topics on inorganic and bio-inorganic spectroscopy, as well as introductory level of group theory with application to spectroscopy. The mentioned topics are approximate course outline and can be change depending on the class performance.

Inorganic Electronic Structure and Spectroscopy (1999 and 2006) by Solomon and Lever (eds.)

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE & TOPICS:
Week one & two: Inorganic & Bioinorganic mass spectroscopy
Week three: Application of group theory to IR spectroscopy
Week four: Application of group theory to UV-Vis spectroscopy
Week five: CD, MCD, and Mossbauer spectroscopy
Week six: NMR, EPR, and electrochemical methods
Final Exam         October 12 (Monday), 8:00 to 8:50 am
