Graduate Student Opportunities

Important Information for Graduate Students

Thank you for your interest in our graduate program.

Current Opportunities

Currently, I am  accepting applications for M.Sc. , Ph.D. and M.Eng. positions.  I will consider students with backgrounds in Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology,
Applied Mathematics, or Geophysics. There are no positions currently available for  research associates  or post-doctoral fellows.

Our department and University can offer  the facilities, expertise, and funding for a unique and high quality education in subsurface hydrology. All of my former graduate students have moved on to rewarding careers in academia, government or the private sector.

BEFORE YOU INQUIRE

Please note that I am on the quantitative side of groundwater hydrology. Right now we are looking at climate change impacts and adaptations, linking land surface schemes with groundwater models, geothermal energy resources, inverse theory, karstic rock hydrogeology, nutrient transport on the large scale, and other subjects. Please refer to my web pages (see link at bottom)   for more details on recent research projects. Please contact other professors in our department if your background more closely corresponds to other research groups.

Please look at
www.umanitoba.ca
and follow the links to > current students > Aurora student > course catalog
and you can search for graduate level courses by department and  term.

Also look at
http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/engineering/departments/civil/

and you will also see various research groups within our department.   My own research pertains to our Civil Engineering’s water resources and geotechnical groups. Please contact other professors in our department if your background more closely corresponds to other research groups.

Having considered the information above, and you are interesting in a graduate opportunity, please send me your most recent CV. Please emphasize your grade point average (GPA) for any university degrees you may have. Also please note any groundwater related courses, training, practical experience and so on. Details on any computational (FORTRAN, C, etc.) languages that you know are also appreciated.

Please consult the link below for information on scholarships and funding. You should have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5/4.5, or B+ in order to qualify for the entrance grants that you will need. I normally only consider students who  meet this requirement. International grade equivalents can be found at
