Our Kerrs can only be traced back to James who was born in Ireland, the land of notoriously difficult records. Perhaps his family was part of the lowland clans which were settled in Ireland by the English. We know little about him. When he came to England or how he met his wife Mary Jane Penny is lost. We do know that he was an inspector on the railway and we do have his death card as shown below (with a somewhat enhanced copy of the picture that graced it. We also have a fairly complete picture of his descendants.
