About me...
I am the full-time support staff person who manages the day-to-day operations of the Faculty of Education's Computer Labs. My office is located at the back of the Main Lab (Room 328A). I am available to lend a hand when students need it, an ear when they want someone to listen, or a shoulder to cry on when they think they won’t make it through.
I am
a strong believer of life-long learning having earned most of my
education later in life. I returned to school after working at Safeway
for 19 years and graduated in 2003 from the St. Boniface Arts
& Technology Centre (since renamed the Louis Riel School
Division Arts & Technology Centre) with a Certificate in Office
Technology and as a Microsoft Office Specialist. At my graduation
ceremony, I was awarded the Governor General's Medal for Academic
Excellence and I received the Louis Riel School Division Legacy Scholarship.
During my final
months at the Arts & Technology Centre, I competed in the 6th Annual Skills Manitoba
Provincial competition and earned a gold medal in the IT Software
Applications category. I then competed as part of Team Manitoba in the
9th Annual Skills
Canada National competition held in Kitchener, ON and earned a
bronze medal. This was the first national medal win for Manitoba
competitors in the IT Software Applications category.
In 2001, I
completed a Certificate in Web Design from the University
of Winnipeg Continuing Education Division.
I am also a computer instructor for the Louis Riel School Division Continuing Education
Department. I teach a variety of Computer Education for 55 Plus
courses.
