Research
My research focuses on the social and cultural implications of zoos encompassing work on zoo maps, zoo directional signs, cultural landscapes and visitor views on conservation. Research with my colleague Dr. Bonnie Hallman undertakes the analysis of zoo visitor photographs. I am currently developing a project with the Toronto Zoo to examine overheard conversation among zoo visitors as it relates to climate change. I am also organizing a network of projects to look at critical cartography in zoo maps.
