- Informing View of
Organization (IVO) (also known as Information View of Organization) is a
conceptual framework for studying organizations from the perspective
of information systems.
- IVO brings closer the
information systems field and organization theory.
- IVO sharpens the focus of
the IS field by applying a balanced approach to soft (cognitive) and hard
(technological) informing agents. Cognitive agents refer to knowledge, data, meaning, and wisdom. Technological
refer to information/communication technologies.
- IVO
introduces modifications to well-known organizational aspects of organizational structure,
culture, politics and so on, by intersecting
these with informing agents. This results in informing structure
(infostructure), informing culture (infoculture), infopolitics, etc.
- IVO helps organization
theorists to discern IT and its organizational implications from other
technologies, knowledge, and organization of work.

IVO supplies analytical lenses for managers to improve the management of
data, knowledge, information technologies and systems.
