This family is represented in Manitoba by only two species: Claytonia bostockii (syn: Montia parvifolia) which is uncommon reported from around Gillam and Portulaca oleracea which is a common weed. These plants are rather succulent with perfect flowers, 2 sepals and 5 petals. The fruit is a capsul.
