617 Engineering Building Academic Computing and Networking (ACN) Information Services and Technology (IST) University of Manitoba Academic Consulting TeamI lead the Academic Consulting Team, and handle the associated administrative duties, including budgetting, scheduling and payroll. Consulting Team StaffSeveral full time ACN staff participate in Consulting Team Functions. The Consulting Team Leaders also hire and supervise the students who staff ACN's Support Desk and the Computing Lab offices in Machray Hall and the Dafoe basement. These positions are part time casual, and available only to full time University of Manitoba students. Application forms are available from the handout bins outside room 629 Engineering. Academic Software TeamI chair the Academic Software Team and handle license administration for instructional and research software on IST systems. I am responsible for overseeing distribution and licensing compliance for those software packages which ACN is permitted to distribute for home or office use by University of Manitoba staff or students. Many of the microcomputer software packages available under site license agreements are also available on the central Unix system or through the open area microcomputer networks. Computer Reference Books and ManualsOn behalf of ACN, I am responsible for placing a variety of books and software manuals in advising offices, open area manual racks, and campus libraries. I maintain the online book list and the data and programs which generate it.
