How to get AT&T Global Network Services Software   Installing the Software

Before you travel

Before you travel and before you install the AT&T Global Network Software you must have your laptop pre-configured to dial in to the U. of M. These local instructions are for Windows 95, 98 and NT. However the AT&T service also works for other operating systems such as Macintosh and Windows 200, and ME. The software is available from the AT&T software site below.

To enable using a modem on your Windows computer, you must have Dial Up Networking installed and configured. If you are doing this for the first time or need more information please refer to:

www.umanitoba.ca/acn/remote

Follow these instructions to obtain and use the AT&T Global Network software.

How to get AT&T Global Network Software

The software for many types of computers is available on AT&T's Web site at:

https://help.attbusiness.net/index.cfm?fuseaction=downloads.home

Choose the table relevant for your computer, and click on the language version you wish, e.g.: AT&T Global Network Dialer for Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, 2000 or ME (English)

A "Global Network Dialer' screen will appear with a column on the right that has a "Download" button on it.

Click on the "Download" button. You may do this using your modem connection to the U of M, but if you have network access on campus, connecting your laptop there to do file transfer will be much faster.
Take note of the directory on your hard drive where this file (setup.exe) is saved.

Installing the Software

  1. Double click on the file, setup.exe
  2. A window will appear called AT&T Global Network Dialer. Click on "Next".

  3. Read the Legal Agreement that appears on the screen. To proceed, click on "I agree".
  4. Choose the Typical installation and Click on "Next".
  5. You are "Ready to Install" Click on "Start Install".
  6. "Installation is complete." Click on "Yes, continue setup" to configure the program.
Note: The program may restart your computer at this time.
