Before you travel and before you install the AT&T Global Network Software
you must have your laptop pre-configured to dial in to the U. of M. These
local instructions are for Windows 95, 98 and NT. However the AT&T service
also works for other operating systems such as Macintosh and Windows 200,
and ME. The software is available from the AT&T software site below.
To enable using a modem on your Windows computer, you must have Dial
Up Networking installed and configured. If you are doing this for the first
time or need more information please refer to:
The software for many types of computers is available on AT&T's Web site
at:
Choose the table relevant for your computer, and click on the language
version you wish, e.g.:
AT&T Global Network Dialer for Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0,
2000 or ME (English)
A "Global Network Dialer' screen will appear with a column on the right
that has a "Download" button on it.
Click on the "Download"
button. You may do this using your modem connection to the U of M, but if
you have network access on campus, connecting your laptop there to do file
transfer will be much faster.
