Teleseismic scattering tomography

The purpose of this technique is to map 3-D crustal and mantle structure using scattered waves in the teleseismic P coda. Several migration and migration-inversion techniques work well for dense arrays; however, for sparse arrays, the problem becomes non-unique. Instead, we pose the scattering problem as a topographic inversion; this is computationally expensive, but allows proper model regularization in order to control the non-uniqueness.

A paper on this method has been published in GJI; here it is.
