The
Cold Injury: Clinical Consensus Meeting will convene in
Winnipeg, Canada from October 28-30, 1998. This meeting will
bring together individuals with a long standing interest and
expertise in cold injury. The delgates represent a broad
spectrum of involvement including search and rescue
personnel, clinicians, academic researchers, and emergency
room physicians. The expressed purpose of the meeting is to
have the group discuss new research and controversies in
cold injury; specifically in the areas of Frostbite,
Non-freezing Cold Injury, Cold Water Near Drowning, and
Hypothermia. A concerted effort will then be made to come to
consensus on as many of these issues as possible. A
consensus paper will then be published in (italics) Aviation
Space and Environmental Medicine.
