The graph above shows the calculated average cloudiness at stations along and (mostly) within the eclipse track. They are arranged by longitude, from west to east. Only every second station is identified on the lower axis; to identify the missing stations, see the climate statistics table from which these numbers are derived.

Care must be exercised in the use of this graph. Because the stations are arranged in longitude, they are not always sorted by their successive positions along the track.

Cloudiness in both China and Japan is very high, and it is not until the track crosses the California and Washington coasts into the United States that weather prospects improve dramatically. A more in-depth analysis of weather patterns is given here.
