H, et al. J. Virol.73:3551-3559 (1999) and Sato. H, et al. J. Virol.74:5357-5362 (2000)). It was isolated in June 1993 from an index case (NH1) who had developed AIDS. It is sensitive to RT inhibitors (AZT, ddI, ddC, 3TC, d4T, nevirapine), as well as the protease inhibitors (IDV, APV, NFV, SQV, and RTV). The 93JP-NH1 was passaged in human PBMCs and MT2 cells prior to cloning with lambda phage vector.
