Introduction
What is Biomedical Photonics? Photonics is the science of light and in short, our group uses light to develop new technologies that would make people’s life better. Our research interests can be roughly divided into three main areas:
Laser development for biomedical applications. Basic research into compact, efficient and reliable sources of laser light is needed to enable and make many new applications as common as a laser eye surgery.
New techniques for live cell imaging. Early disease diagnostics, such as cancer, diabetes or Alzheimer, can save many lives. Development of new laser-based optical imaging methods for cellular research is helping to achieve this goal.
Spectroscopy of materials. Interaction of light with biological matter is the key to many bio-applications. A deep understanding of material’s response to light provides a solid background for new developments.
