Auger Spectroscopy

The Field Emission Auger Microprobe will provide unsurpassed imaging and energy resolution. In addition to high resolution SEM, this instrument will provide exquisite spatial resolution for mapping elemental makeup (min. probe diameter of 3nm SEI; 8nm for Auger analysis). The combination of the other techniques in the facility as well as cutting edge TEM instrumentation recently commissioned, will enable a more detailed understanding of the chemistry of complex microstructures and heterogeneous interfaces that will be the focus of the research in this facility.
