The principal investigators, around which the facility is based, are an interdisciplinary team with expertise in electrical engineering, materials engineering, material science and chemistry. They consist of established or emerging leaders (two Tier 1 and five Tier 2 Canada Research Chairs including one recently established in the SIMS area) in fields that are critical to the technological and economic growth of Manitoba and Canada. Members of the team have a proven track record of developing technological and scientific breakthroughs in their fields, as well as developing interdisciplinary research programs that transcend traditional academic boundaries.
