Was Jim’s Bar,
is now Something Bar & Grill.
Same spot,
same joint, high rise apartment in the background was not there then.
Every and I
mean every Monday night was fraternity night. They held meetings Monday night
and then headed to Jim’s to partake.
More cash
exchanged hands that night than any other. Extra bar tenders were hired to
handle just the beer crowd alone. I lived there. It is probably the
quintessential bar and grill of the
Across from
Jim’s, the former Nick’s Bar, now closed up.
Great spot.
For one reason primarily. The piano bar.
And the
pianist was none other than the inimitable Winnie. They only made one of her.
She became a
good friend of Zeta Psi. “Every morning, every evening, ain’t we got fun.”
I wept the
last time I was there.
Sad reminder
of the past.
