BIRCH -removing BIRCH access
Run the nobirch script
Before uninstalling BIRCH for an update, it is important to temporarily
turn off BIRCH access for the BIRCH administrator. For example, every
time you run a script, the BIRCH setup commands run from your .profile
or .cshrc files will try run. If BIRCH has been uninstalled, you won't
be able to run most shell scripts because .profile or .cshrc will
encounter errors, looking for files that are no longer present.
Run the nobirch script, which removes lines added to .profile, .login
and .cshrc that
were added previously by the 'newuser' script. Run 'nobirch' as follows:
$birch/admin/nobirch
Once BIRCH is reinstalled, you can again run the newuser script to
restore BIRCH access.
