Koala OS X Installation Instructions

  1. Install Firefox (necessary for Pathway Tools web interface)
    Skip this step if you already have Firefox installed, or if you do not wish to use firefox with Pathway Tools
  2. Install Pathway Tools
    Skip this step if you already have Pathway Tools installed
  3. Install MySQL
  4. Enable Apache
  5. Install Koala with installer -- or -- manually (without installer)
    Manual installation is available for for advanced users.
  6. Start pathway tools web server
  7. Optional OS X Stability Hacks (useful if Pathway Tools does not work)
    This step is optional, and primarily useful if, for some reason, Pathway Tools does not work on your version of OS X. These hacks were used to get Pathway Tools to work on OS X 10.5, which is no longer officially supported. Additionally, these hacks were tested on OS X 10.6 Server. If you have no problems with using Pathway Tools, skip this section.
