DONE fix siginterrupt in misc.c and repeat.c 
UNDO - make undo and redo work for all things that modify
     sequences.... (NOT variables ...)
VERIFY - beep if key pressed is not letter in sequence
OVERTYPE
AUTO-WHATEVER - bind switch between VERIFY, INSERT, OVERTYPE,
    INS-COMP-FOR, and INS-COMP-BACK -- could switch mode
    of all keys bound to it, and switch back.
    might be nice to have AUTO-M-WHATEVER for meta keys
implement CSI-NEXT - use 9-bit characters (don't know about 10 bit)
DynamicSearch - look for a match to a matrix
REVERSE-SEARCH - search backwards for a regex
dissect the display routines from EDIT
    this would make possible such things as isearch.
think about --- all routines have to deal more explicitly
   with mult - reset to 0 when finished, or add/multiply to it...
   number keys no longer treated special from edit.
divide the pre-loaded history to:
	take files
	config files for printers
	matrix files
