           Health Insurance

Once you reach 75 your Supplementary Health coverage with Great West Life stops. For those considering private coverage, the following describes briefly three available plans.  One is 'PLANDIRECT' (an offshoot of Great West), the second is our own 'MANITOBA BLUE CROSS', the third was brokered by CAUT and is offered by Manulife, 'FOLLOWME'.

       ' BLUE CROSS :-  Medi-Blue Deluxe'

Coverage for Ambulance/Hospital Benefits, Extended Health Benefits, Hearing Aids.  Quite similar to our existing policy with Great West Life.

Monthly Premium :-   Single ... $58.55
                                 Couple ... $96.35

      'PLANDIRECT :-  Basic Plan with Drugs'

Coverage for Ambulance/Hospital Benefits, Extended Health Benefits.  In some respects, a little richer than our current plan.

Monthly Premium :-    Single ... $96.31
                                   Couple ... $172.68

    'FOLLOWME' :-  four individual plans, from 'basic' to 'premiere'

Includes some vision care - last two cover dental expenses which are already covered by Blue Cross.

Monthly Premiun :-   Single … $76.86 - 161.40
            Couple … $143.20 - 312.99

There is a 60 day window for application after you reach 75  ( no medical exam nor questionnaire with FollowMe - medical exam required after this window, but no cap on age ).
