Recruitment

Looking for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. Must have equivalent to 3.5 GPA or higher and a strong background in heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Advanced scientific computing skills and proficiency using Linux will be assets.

I will have projects for code development and for commercial code application. In addition, I am looking to fill a Ph.D. position that requires a strong knowledge of OpenFOAM.

Unfortunately, I am not able to respond to all email inquiries. I will reply to candidates who have the appropriate background when there is an opening.

In-House Codes

The following codes are in use or under development:
  • Turbulent falling film condensation from mixtures of a vapour and a noncondensing gas
  • Laminar falling film evaporation and desalination with a co-current vapour-gas mixture
  • Laminar falling film absorption from a co-current pure vapour
  • Two-dimensional single-phase flow and heat transfer in boundary-fitted domains
  • Heat exchanger shell-side flow with porous medium model for the tube bank
  • Grid generator for two-dimensional non-orthogonal structured panelled grids

Commercial Code Use

The following commerical CFD codes have been used or are currently used in research projects:
  • Siemens STAR-CCM+
  • ANSYS Fluent
  • ANSYS CFX
