Vaulting Under Oven Floors:

Kilns A, B

Kiln A is the largest of the five, measuring 4.5m in diameter, with a hub that is 1.05m in diameter.  Due to its large size, brick vaults were used to hold the oven floor instead of clay spokes, which could not provide the structural support required for a kiln of this diameter. Kiln B had a similar large diameter, but all its interior fixtures and brickwork had been stripped away.
