When I try to log in to Websieve or Easysieve, I am directed to try again. What should I do?

Last updated:29-July-2003

Both Websieve and Easysieve rely on the use of cookies to identify you after you submit your login information. Cookies are files that websites save on your computer which contain a small amount of information. For security reasons, the cookies that are saved on your computer expire after a certain amount of time, so that if you forget to properly log off the site, no one else will be able to access your account information and settings.

Since the cookies expire at a certain time of day, if the time setting of your computer is inaccurate, Websieve and Easysieve may be fooled into thinking that your login has expired immediately after you submit it.

If you are able to login to the main Easysieve menu but repeatedly receive the error Cookie missing or expired, Re-log in required when you choose an option, you should check that your computer has the correct time and timezone settings.

Websieve does not give any error text regarding cookies, but if your initial login is accepted, and you are asked to login again when you choose an option, then you may be suffering from the same problem.

To change the time and timezone settings in Windows, double-click on the clock in the system-tray. Instructions will vary for other operating systems.
