M51
Project and Website By: Todd Pernerowski (6853562)

Welcome to my final project website for Observational Astronomy (PHYS 2070). Here, you will find information about my object, M51 (or the Whirlpool Galaxy as it's commonly referred to), including the galaxies history and specifications, along with plenty of images which I have aquired and processed.
The following observations were made over the period of Winter 2008-2009 with an Apogee AP47 CCD camera at the Glenlea Astronomical Observatory, south of Winnipeg.
A complete Table of Contents is found at the bottom of every page. This website was designed for simplicity and easy navigation and should work properly on any browser and resolution.
Please note, although M51 may often refer to BOTH galaxies (M51a and it's companion galaxy, M51b), I will concentrate mostly on the larger galaxy, M51a.
All images, if not referenced, were taken or processed by Jesse Corley, Ben Guest, and myself.
