Only one species of this family is found in Manitoba - Osmunda claytoniana (interrupted fern). These plants have stout rhizomes with fronds 50-100cm high; stipes shorter than blade. Blades are pinnate-pinnatifid with pinnae in 15-20 alternate or subopposite pairs. Fertile pinnae in 1-5 pairs in the middle of the blade. Sporangia about 0.5 mm wide and dark brown. Found in Southeast of the Province.
