Only one species of Basswood is found in Manitoba (Tilia americana). This moderately sized tree is found inravines and along rivers in the south and south eastern part of the province. It has also been planted as a road side tree. The leaves are bovate to suborbicular and sharply serrate with conspicuous tufts of hairs in the vein axils. The flowers are found in axillary cyme-like clusters.
