Aerobatic Flying

Updated: 1996/12/13 Fri

The Zlin is an aerobatic trainer. A pilot and pupil (or passenger) sit side by side with dual joysticks). A joy to fly, the airframe is stressed to handle six g's (6g, or six times the force of gravity) and is capable of the standard aerobatic manuevers. I was treated to a ride in May of 1995 when CASARA's AGM was held at St. Andrews Airport. The pilot performed rolls, barrel rolls, a hammerhead, an Immelman and ended the performance with a 200 mph buzz of the airfield. This is not for the faint of stomache.

An aerodynamic display done by the Pietsche family flyers if I recall correctly.

The Sky Hawks are Canada's premiere sky diving team. Recruited from the Canadian military, certain manuevers require incredible strength. In the accompanying photo the two team members have just released their leg lock on each other to seperate both chutes.
