Using AT&T Global Network Software

After you have completed the setup of the AT&T Global Network Software the Login window will appear. Or, if you have installed and configured the software and are ready to use it, simply double click on the icon on your (Windows) desktop and the Login window will appear.

Click on the box, "Travelling User". This will display the city and phone numbers for easy selection when you travel. You can select phone numbers of previously selected cities on this screen. If you travel to a new city you must choose "Setup" and go through the previous steps to add a new phone number.

Note that your Login profile (userid) is already entered. Type in your password and click on "Connect".

Once you are connected you will see the following window. Do not close this window unless you want to disconnect. The window will remain active for the duration of your session. You may minimize it if you wish.

The program will create a profile for you (with your umit userid). This is done to identify you, particularly if other people also use the same computer. Note that the each time you connect your Web browser will automatically launch.

Using the Dialer when you Travel

Make sure you have used the software successfully at home before you travel. To start the dialer, simply double click on the icon on your Window's desktop. Select the city from which you are dialing and the appropriate phone number.

Once you are connected start the application you want to use, for example, your e-mail program.

Getting HELP!

Be sure that you have the system working before you travel. If you have questions about getting the software or pre-configuring your system to dial-in to the UofM modems, be sure to contact the ACN Support Desk.

The AT&T Global Network has an excellent on-line help facility. If you have questions or problems as you are using the software click on the "Help" option. There is a good index of topics available.

Note the AT&T customer support number: 1-800-821-4612. Their help line is excellent -- call them with your questions.
