During the summer of 2009, the NCSP moved west along the Thukela River to the Msinga municipality to work with potters in two Traditional Authorities. Although work had been done there by a provincial government anthropologist, Dr. Dieter Reusch, little was widely published. Our study learned that a unique pit-firing technique is used in Msinga and potters from the two tribal authorities we visited make pottery very differently in some respects to Zulu potters elsewhere.
