Interests

I am by education and inclination an earthquake seismologist, my primary focus being structural seismology. That is, I am most interested in developing and using techniques to obtain information on Earth structure from recordings of earthquakes. I am also interested in the insights into Earth processes (particularly the dynamics of the crust and upper mantle) which may be obtained from such techniques.

• The deep structure of Ontario -- anisotropic mantle layering beneath Ontario, as detected by the POLARIS and Fednor arrays.
• Inversion of scattered body waves for crust and upper-mantle structure
• Modelling and inversion of teleseismic Ps conversions (receiver functions)
• S velocity structure of the Canadian upper mantle from surface-wave tomography
• Tomographic imaging of the Canadian northern Cordillera using teleseismic data
