Logging in

Note: The exact login steps will be slightly different depending on which RDP client you are using.

Once you click on Connect in your RDP client, you should get a message saying "connecting to UPR", followed by the SSH tunnel login.

Type your userid and password and click on OK.

This login creates an encrypted "tunnel" that connects you to the server. You will still need to login to the server itself.

The first time you login, you will probably get a message warning you that the identity of the remote host cannot be verified. You can ignore this message and continue.

Click OK

(You can ignore the "login failed" message.)

Now you are logging into the server. Type your userid and password and click on OK.

Your MATE desktop will come up as shown. Keep in mind that the Ubuntu-MATE session is running within RDP client window. The gray frame is part of the RDP client itself. If you hover the mouse over the gray tool bar, you will see RDP client functions, such as full-screen, screenshot, disconnect etc.
