UMARS has been involved in many field days. A field days is a special event when many hams around the world communicate without the mains power supply. The transceivers must be powered from external sources such as generators, batteries, solar cells, or wind generators.
A good location for field days in Winnipeg is the artificial hill close to the airport. Many other Winnipeg radio clubs are usually collocated there during a field day in the second half of June.
