UMARS General Meeting
May 17, 1995


Present: Craig Thomasson, Paula Ehn, Eric Krievans, Dean Riegel, Michael Markmann, Gordon Snarr, Remi Godin, Tom and Angela Tessier.

Meeting called to order at 6:30pm outside between Engineering Buildings and University Centre.

1. EXECUTIVE ADDRESSES TO THE CLUB:

1. President's address given by Craig Thomasson.
None.
2. Vice-President's address given by Paula Ehn.
If your doing work in the club room, please clean up after yourself so I don't have to do it. Also help keep the club's hard drive clean. Remove any files you may have transfered to the c:/tmp or c:/ftp directories after you are done.
3. Secretary/Treasurer's report given by Andy Minkevich.
None.
4. Technical Manager's Report given by Eric Krievans.
None.

2. PERMENANT COMMITTEE REPORTS:

I) Campus Crime Watch by Paula Ehn.
Keep logging those hours!

3. SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:

I) Akjuit Aerospace update by Tom Tessier.
The GPS equipment is in. The APRS software is missing one authorization code. Craig will try to find this. First balloon launch is set for July 15, 1995. All present agreed and Tom will notify all parties concerned.

4. NEW PURCHASES:

None.

5. OLD BUSINESS:

I) Field Day given by Paula Ehn.
Gord and Remi have generators. Wayne and Michael have tables. Remi will take care of the publicity. Craig has chairs. We need to build antennas and test them well before field day. A Filed Day briefing will be held after a very brief general meeting on June 21, 1995. All people coming to Field Day are encouraged to come.
II) Repeater update by Tom Tessier.
The lastest news is that the Faculty of Engineering will chip in $300.00 towards the repeater. This leaves $650.00 that still needs to be covered. Eric Kreivans said he will phone all club members past and present to solicit donations of $20.00 or more per person.

6. NEW BUSINESS:

I) Foxhunt by Paula Ehn.
The next fox hunt will be Friday, June 2, 1995 at 7:00pm and we will meet at the club room. All present agreed.
II) UMARS Roof Work Day by Craig Thomasson.
Much work needs to be done on the roof. The next work party will be on May 27, 1995 at 8:00am. The following tasks will be done this day for sure:
- removal of the lower repeater antenna,
- the shuffling of cables on the roof with the end result of having the best cables for the repeater antenna,
- straightening of UMSU's TV antenna
And if supplies are ready:
- removal of the old repeater antenna, putting up the new repeater
- antenna, and replacing the 160m and 30 m dipoles. Michael and Gord will look into purchasing antenna wire to make dipoles with.

7. ANNOUNCEMENTS:
