In addition to recreational and sports camps, the University of Manitoba developed science and engineering camps to attract primary and high school students to the higher education.
One of such programs was related to electrical and computer engineering. It included electricity, electric circuits, electronic circuits, and amateur radio. The students spent half a day hunting for hidden transmitters (fox hunting).
Dr. W. Kinsner, VE4WK, developed a module for the Electrical and Computer Engineering program, and was a faculty advisor to the Mini University program for many years. He is an Accredited Examiner for Industry Canada.
