UMARS wishes to thank Akjuit Aerospace Inc. / SpacePort Canada for sponsorship of the UMARS high altitude balloon experiment. They provided funds to purchase the equipment necessary to test an amateur radio GPS (global positioning) system, an experiment with 10 meter band radio propagation, and implement a VHF FM packet radio (digital) mailbox. UMARS is very grateful to Akjuit Aerospace Inc. and the many other organizations and individuals who have supported our club throughout the years.

Environment Canada & Transport Canada

Environment Canada also deserves special recognition for the time and effort they have put into planning and launching the balloon (note photo above-in action here are Winnipeg Environment Canada specialists Dennis Gamble with the balloon, and Ted Gresiuk with the payload!) on our first flight, as well as the donation of a balloon and a parachute. Thanks also goes to Transport Canada for their cooperation and support in planning the flight.
