Learning Objectives:

1) Describe Protista diversity including the key characteristics of the Unikonta and SAR super group
2) Distinguish the Amoeboids as representative of the Unikonta
3) Distinguish the Ciliates as an representative of the SAR super group
4) Describe and sketch the simplest animal groups Porifera and Cnideria. Describe and differentiate these two phyla using diagnostic characteristics.
5) Describe the Hydrozoa, Anthozoa and Scyphozoa as representatives of the Cnideria.
6) Describe the clade Deuterostome. Describe and differentiate this group using diagnostic characteristics.
7) Describe the Echinodermata. Learn the basic body plan of the Asteroidea.
8) Describe the Chordata. Differentiate the three main groups, Cephalochordata, Urochordata and Vertebrata
9) Memorize and recall the descriptive terms used for orientation of Biological specimens
