1) Default - no web server, BIRCH web site is not Internet accessible

2) Web server runs on the same host as BIRCH, symbolic links allowed.

a) This example takes advantage of the fact that, within public_html, there are symbolic links named doc, dat etc. that point to directories in the parent directory (ie. doc --> ../doc, dat --> ../dat etc). Put another way, for the purpose of reading documentation and data files, the public_html directory can also be used as the "HOME" directory.

b) This example uses a single symbolic link to point to all directories in the parent directory (ie. birchhomedir --> .. ). This one is probably less likely to get broken by future changes in BIRCH
