I think of and remember events of 30 years ago: On November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall was opened, allowing the people of East Germany to cross over freely. It was the culmination of a long development that led from fear and suppression to the loss of fear and the experience of freedom. A defining moment of my life.

June 4, 2019 The 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre in Beijing is very much on my mind; back then, we followed the developments with great interest and were dismayed by the crushed hopes and the brutality of the totalitarian state.

      Our NFRF (New Frontiers in Research Fund − Exploration) application has been successful! This is a multidisciplinary collaboration with researchers at TRIUMF and Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, on the use of 225Ac for in vivo radiation therapy; it is led by Caterina Ramogida. Our contribution is in the computational modelling of structures, bonding and stability complexes between Actinium and novel, multi dentate ligands. The title of the grant is "Novel Radiopharmaceuticals to Cure Cancer".
