Research in a networked environmentThe nature of genomics demands a shift from PC-based computing to network-centric computing. Network-centric computing means that more and more of the data and computing stays on servers, and less work is actually done on personal computers. The PC becomes a terminal for working with network-based resources. This old concept has recently been referred to by the term "Cloud Computing".
