The plants in this list are identified by their Latin, or scientific name, with the common name in parenthesis. The plants are grouped in broad categories representing the type of environment with which they are usually associated. Plants in these groups do not necessarily grow in the same area or community. This list does not represent all of the plants found in the Mantario region. A number of books are available for further information on each of the plants and plant communities. The Whiteshell area is often classed as part of the Boreal forest region, but there are many similarities to the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence forest region, a number of plants representative of Aspen Parkland are also common. A PDF version that can be folded as a pamphlet is available at: http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~burchil/mantario/short_list2.pdf.
