Animal Reproduction Lab: Bovine Reproductive Tract
The objective of the lab is to be able to describe the female reproductive system in farm animals using the cow and pig as examples. You will be expected to know the structure and function of the female reproductive tract. At the end of this lab, you must be able to draw the common structures or identify them on photographs.
Activities:
Read chapter 2 ‘The Female Reproductive System’ in ‘Applied Animal Reproduction’ by Bearden, H.J., Fuquay, J.W. and S.T. Willard’ and review the lab photographs and notes below. At the end of the process complete the quiz to test your knowledge.
Please note that the purpose of this lab is to familiarize you to the anatomical structures of the female reproductive tract. The next lab will follow a similar format but you may be required to dissect and produce coloured photographs and label them as instructed.
