The "Point Weather Station" is situated at the east end of the University of Manitoba Fort-Garry campus on agricultural research land. It's primary purpose is to collect local meteorological data for use by students in the Department of Plant Science . The station consists of a 21x datalogger built by Campbell Scientific with dual air temperature and tipping bucket rain gauges to insure sensor reliability. It also acquires soil temperature at 2-3cm depth and solar radiation. The data is uploaded to a windows machine via short haul modem every hour and compiled into a report which can be viewed over the internet with a browser. When viewing data reports you may have to click your browser's refresh or reload button to insure most recent data. Datasets that are updated daily are available at 7:15 am. This allows us to view the morning precipitation accumulation. The station no longer calcutes PDays.
