Research Focus

My research interests focus on the analytic method development of functional brain imaging (e.g., positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging) to study brain network and neurotransmitter in health and diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury). In addition to clinical research, I also use animal models of diseases to complement my hypotheses that cannot be tested in human. The primary goal of this research is to developa brain imaging-based biomarker, which may allow us to provide better diagnosis and prognosis, and to monitor the disease progression more accurately. I am also interested in the therapeutic use of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques such as transcranial direct current stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation, which has a potential clinical application to drug- refractory symptoms.
