Dr. Orly Linovski
Assistant Professor Dept. of City Planning University of Manitoba |
My research is motivated by a concern with the social and political production of the built form. I am interested in the links between political processes, professional practices and the shaping of urban space. I am fundamentally interested in research that is focused on issues of social justice and relevant to professional planners.
I am currently working on a project that examines the relationship between development potential and equity in transit decision-making. My previous research has examined planning and urban design processes through a variety of lenses, include the role of private sector consultants, the evolution of design plans over time and constructions of professional expertise. I received my PhD in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles and a M.Sc. in Urban Planning from the University of Toronto. Previously, I worked in planning and policy at the municipal and provincial levels and am active with the Manitoba Professional Planners Institute. |
