Attempted to prove the parallel
postulate
for over 30 years
Didn't like Gauss, every time he published something, Guass would have
already discovered it.
This happened to lots of people,
- e.g. Gauss claimed to have discovered
the existance of non-Euclidean geometry before others,
- discovered the
geometric intepretation of the complex plane before others, etc.
