1896 Hadamard and Valle'e-Poussin

Simultaneously
Proved the Prime Number Theorem, i.e. the conjecture of Guass and Legendre.

Hadamard's proof required the zeros lie in the critical strip.

Hadamard also proved that the zeros could not be on the borders of the critical strip (real parts could not be 0 or 1). Confinement was beginning.

That is, confinement of the Zeta zeros to within the critical strip.

Aside 1:
A fly in the ointment although I don't see its connection. Other  zeta functions consider inert primes, i.e. those that can't be factored in the Gaussian realm.

Is 5 a prime number?
5 = (1 + 2i)(1-2i)

Aside 2: Walsh-Hadamard basis functions are what is used to provide you a channel (downlink) in IS-95, gen-2  cell phones  DS-CDMA.

Aside 3: A comment on the pictures, neither are as famous as some of the others, but the sketch of Hadamard looked much like a painting of van Gogh.

Who in turn, looks like me, after a little word touch-up.

 Upon reading about him, acts more like he should be in Stony, or at the least getting some relationship counseling.
