December 19, 2008 Congratulations to Thach Vo for successfully defending his M.Sc. thesis, and also for getting a position with Cangene!
December 2008 Group Wiki launched. Thanks to Grigory for taking the lead! The purpose of the Wiki is to collect and preserve the group knowledge on issues of common interest, such as details of working on the cluster or using our codes. Active participation of everyone is encouraged. Note that the Wiki is only accessible from U of M IP addresses.

August 1, 2008 In August, Professor Ching-Han Hu, National Changhua University of Education, Changhua, Taiwan, will join us for a six-months sabbatical stay. Welcome (back) to Canada!
May 2008 We have received internal U of M funding under the University Research Grants Program (URGP). This funding will support the DSSC project.
July 2008 Dr. Grigory Shamov will (re-)join us in July for the DPI (catalysis) project. Welcome back, Grigory! (Btw., I don't know how to produce kyrillic letters in HTML, otherwise, I would have written part of this in Russian ...)
May 3, 2008 Congratulations to both John and Sean for winning poster prizes at the Western Canadian Undergraduate Chemistry Conference (WCUCC 2008)! The conference was hosted by the U of M this year.

March 10, 2008 Joel Berard has successfully defended his M.Sc. thesis on March 10, 2008 - Congratulations!
February 2008   We received two-year funding from NSERC under the SPG-SC program. The project involves studies of the TiO2-uranium system. The principal investigator for the project is Feiye Wang; the other co-applicant is Mostafa Fayek (University of Manitoba, geological sciences).
February 25, 2008 Dr. Abu Asaduzzaman has joined us for the DSSC project. His most recent position was at the University of Leicester, England. Welcome aboard, Abu!
Congratulations to Sean Walker on (again) winning an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award for the summer term 2008!

December 9, 2007 Congratulations to Grigory and his wife Lilya on the birth of their daughter!
October 2007   We received two-year funding from The EJLB Foundation under their "Environmental Research Programme". The project involves computational studies of chemical processes in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC, also known as Grätzel Cells).
Summer 2007   We received four-year funding from the Dutch Polymer Institute (DPI) for a project to develop computational tools for high-throughput computational screening of potential homogeneous catalysts. The principal investigator for the project is Peter Budzelaar.
