Main Kiln Site

The kilns in this area were based on pre-Roman technology, likely brought to North Africa by the Phoenicians.  There were two separate designs, both that used a central column to support the oven floor.  Depending on the kilns’ diameters, which ranged from 1.8m to 4.5m, the flooring would differ.
