Navreet Ghuman joins as high school intern!

Welcome to Navreet Ghuman, a grade 12 student from the Maples Met School, pursuing an internship project in the McKenna lab related to investigation of non-coding RNAs!

Dr. McKenna becomes Associate Dean!

As of May 1, 2021, Dr. McKenna will be joining the Faculty of Science Dean's office as the Associate Dean - Undergraduate Programs.

Danny Gussakovsky awarded Jamieson Scholarship!

Congrats to McKenna Lab Ph.D. student Danny Gussakovsky on being awarded the first James C. Jamieson Scholarship in Biochemistry for his academic and research contributions/potential! We would like to thank the Jamieson family for establishing an endowment fund to honour Dr. Jamieson's career as a teacher, researcher, and leader in the Chemistry Department and Faculty of Science at the University of Manitoba.

Dr. McKenna promoted to Full Professor!

Dr. McKenna was promoted to Full Professor at the University of Manitoba. Thanks to all of the McKenna Lab group members and colleagues at the University of Manitoba for all of the hard work and support.

Ewan McRae defends his Ph.D.

Congrats to Ewan McRae on successfully defending his Ph.D. work on characterization of quadruplex helices and their targets! Ewan has joined the lab of Dr. Ebbe Sloth Andersen at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center at Aarhus University, Denmark.

Welcome to two new M.Sc. students in the group, Taegi Choi and Nikki Lubna! Taegi will be working on the non-coding RNA, BC200, and Nikki will work on OAS enzymes in the group.
